Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility)
A 30-minute walk from the road through open farmland and rice paddies leads to this sacred temple. A demon who had been terrorizing the valley transformed himself into a black dog to escape the wrath of Drukpa Kuenlay, the Divine Madman.
Punakha Dzong
Considered one of the most important and beautiful dzongs in the Kingdom. Built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1637, it was the seat of government every winter until 1955. Admire the impressive, colorful artistry including huge statues of Buddha, Guru Rinpoche, and Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, as well as paintings of one thousand Buddhas.
Suspension Bridge & River Rafting
One of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, spanning 350M and perched high above the swift Pho Chhu river, draped with prayer flags. Optional white-water rafting is available down the Mo Chu and Sandingkha (intermediate grade rapids).

Paro International Airport ranks among the top 10 most beautiful airports in the world. The viewpoint offers a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the runway nestled amidst mountains. Only 8 pilots in the world are certified to fly into this airport.
National Museum (Ta Dzong)
Housed in the Ta Dzong (Watch Tower) of Rinpung Dzong, the museum's intriguing collection of artifacts serves as a great introduction to Bhutan's rich culture and heritage. Exhibits span from as early as 2000 B.C., tracing the country's transition from the later Stone Age to a modern Mahayana Buddhist Kingdom.
Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong)
A premier example of 17th-century Bhutanese architecture, built to defend Paro from Tibetan invasion. The name means 'Fortress on a Heap of Jewels.' Now it serves as the central monastic and administrative seat of the Paro district. A leisurely walk back into Paro town crosses the scenic Nyamai Zampa, a unique traditional cantilever bridge.
Kyichu Lhakhang
One of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan, dating to the 7th century. Ordered by Tibetan King Songsten Gampo, it is one of 108 monasteries built to subdue evil spirits and spread Buddhism across the Himalayan region.
Gho & Kira — Traditional Dress Photography

The Legend
Guru Rinpoche flew into Bhutan on a mythical tigress and meditated in a cave before bringing Buddhism to Bhutan. The Taktsang Goempa is built around this very cave, which is opened to the public once a year at the end of August.
The Hike
Tiger's Nest — or Taktshang Goempa — is one of Bhutan's most revered monuments. It literally hangs off the face of a cliff 900 meters (2,952 feet) above the valley floor. The hike to the monastery is a rewarding journey through pine forests with breathtaking views at every turn.
